RCD360 Troubleshooting Guide

Use the sections below to quickly identify the issue and follow the recommended steps. If you’re unsure, contact us and send a photo of your original car plug / wiring.

1. Power Cable Not Compatible / Doesn’t Fit

Issue: The power cable does not match the original car plug.

Solution:

  1. If your original car plug is a large Quadlock plug:
You can directly use our standard power cable.
  2. If your car uses an ISO plug:
You will need the special Plug-B for ISO.

  3. If your car has an MQB plug:
You can connect it directly to our head unit without using our power cable.

2. Original Car Wiring Modified / Aftermarket Wiring

Issue: The original car wiring has been modified or previously customized, which may cause incompatibility (especially CAN signal mismatch).

Solution:

  1. Contact our customer service team.
  2. Send a clear photo of your original car plug / wiring.
  3. We will confirm the correct adapter / wiring solution for your vehicle.

3. Car Battery Drain Issue / Stereo Cannot Fully Power Off

Issue: The stereo does not completely shut down after turning off the ignition. Common symptoms include:

  • The stereo can still be powered on after removing the car key.
  • The button backlight stays illuminated.
  • CarPlay or Android Auto remains connected when the vehicle is off.

Cause: This is not caused by the head unit itself. It is usually related to an outdated CAN Gateway version that does not correctly transmit the shutdown signal via CAN.

Diagnosis checklist:

  1. Headlight sync test:
Turn the headlight knob on/off — does the stereo button backlight turn on/off accordingly?
If yes, CAN signal is partially working.
  2. Bluetooth test:
    Is Bluetooth functioning normally?
If yes, some signals are working, but shutdown communication may be missing.

Solution (recommended): Use our exclusive yellow “power drain fix wire”.

  1. If the yellow wire was not included in your package, please contact us. We will send it to you free of charge.
  2. Follow the wiring instruction video below to connect the yellow wire correctly.

4. Poor FM/AM Signal or Incompatible Antenna Plug

Issue: The radio receives weak or no FM/AM signal. Common symptoms include:

  • Weak or no signal
  • Very few stations during auto-scan
  • Static or noise during playback

Product specs:

  • AM: 530 – 1600 KHz
  • FM: 87.5 – 108 MHz

Possible causes & solutions:

  1. Check antenna connection and orientation:
    • Our default antenna plug is compatible with most vehicles.
    • If the signal is poor, try reversing/flipping the antenna connector direction and make sure it is firmly connected.
  2. Antenna adapter needed for some models:
If your original power plug looks like the one shown below, you may need an additional antenna adapter.

5. CarPlay Not Connecting

Issue: Your iPhone is not connecting to CarPlay.

Troubleshooting steps:

  1. Check the USB cable:
    • Make sure the cable is properly recognized by the stereo.
    • Try several different original Apple cables to rule out cable issues.
  2. Check your iPhone system:
    • Reset iPhone network/settings or test with another iPhone to confirm whether the issue is phone-related.
  3. Check the USB port on the head unit:
    • Ensure the USB port is not loose or damaged.
    • Try gently adjusting the cable to see if the connection is intermittent.

6. Reverse Camera Not Working

Issue: The rear camera does not display properly or does not activate when shifting into reverse.

Important check (before troubleshooting): After installing the camera, close the trunk and test again. On some cars, reverse lights may not function correctly when the trunk is open, which can prevent the camera from receiving power.

SCUMAXCON camera options

Recommended solution: We recommend using a SCUMAXCON-brand rear camera. RCD360 series supports:

  • AV (CVBS) signal input
  • NTSC TV system only

Many third-party cameras are not compatible. Official camera options:

  1. Universal Camera (standard mount)  |  Manual
  2. Handle Camera with dynamic guidelines  |  Manual
  3. VW Flip Logo Camera  |  Manual

Next steps if your camera still doesn’t work:

  1. If your factory camera is an RGB camera (RCD510 / RNS510 / RNS315 etc.):
RGB cameras are not directly compatible with RCD360 series units. You may need an adapter / conversion solution.
    Read the step-by-step installation guide
  2. If your original head unit was an MIB system:
Your factory rear camera should be directly compatible with our RCD360 without additional adapters.
  3. If you are using a third-party/aftermarket camera:
    1. Confirm the camera supports AV format (CVBS) and NTSC.
    2. Many aftermarket cameras require a time delay wire to stabilize the signal during reverse shifting.
    3. If you’re unsure, send us the camera product link and we will verify compatibility for you.
